My New Years' Resolution

I’ve been meaning to write this up for a while now, but have just been putting it off. What with the holiday festivities, and taking showers, and browsing the internets… Well, you understand.

Anyway, I thought it was high time to share at least one of my new years’ resolutions with everyone, mainly because I need your help in keeping me accountable. Together we can keep me on track.

Resolution #1: Procrastinate More
This year I am striving to make a more concerted effort in waiting until the last minute to do (most?) things. There’s nothing like the adrenaline rush of fear that comes from waking up late in the morning and realizing that you were supposed to do laundry the night before, and are now out of clean drawers. Or the frenzied dervish required to rush out the door for an appointment, forgetting a full 50% of the things required for said appointment.

These moments quicken the pulse (good cardio) and sharpen those last five minutes of rushed, desperate attempts at fixing the situation like nothing else can. In fact, if I could direct that kind of focused energy to everything I do, I would be an unstoppable – if extremely late and flustered – productivity stallion. I would literally sweat adrenaline for all to enjoy, careful not to slip as I rush in at the last moment.

Now, I don’t plan on procrastinating right away, because I don’t have that kind of time. But some day, eventually, I can really see the potential with starting to mine the benefits of good, solid, well thought out and prepared procrastination. The kind that you just can’t rush into.

I have other resolutions, and really need to post those as well, but can probably pick them up later on without too many people noticing. I just want to think about them for a while first, and should take a break to give myself proper time for self-reflection before committing further.
